COMANO MOUNTAIN RUNNERS was founded in February 2016 to valorise the territory of the Giudicarie
Valleys. Marco Buratti, the enthusiastic president and founder of CMR, had the idea of organising trail running races to share the magical scenery of the Comano valley. He believed that the healthy values of this sport perfectly matched his dream of a sustainable future for the valley and he found out that some of his friends shared the same idea. This group of young people organized the first long race in 2016, the Comano Ursus Extreme Trail, in short CUET, 120 km long. The year after, driven by the success of this first event, the group of friends decided to organize two more races: the Valandro Vertical Race and the SkyGhez.
And here we are, in 2019, with the same enthusiasm and excited to share our story!
Hospitality, respect for the environment, for others and for themselves are the core values that we try to convey in all our events, with the support of the many associations of the valley. These values require time and dedication. We develop the trail tracks together with the communities of the valley, making sure they are designed in a sustainable, non-invasive way. We also collaborate with local groups of hunters and shepherds, them managers of mountain huts, the regional alpine association (SAT), the owners of the lands crossed by the races, the different municipalities involved in the trails.
We strive daily to create events that are as sustainable as possible. But to really succeed in this, we need the full cooperation of the athletes: it is fundamental that participants embrace our vision, respecting the environment of our valley. We do our best to signpost the races clearly but not invasively and to pollute as little as possible - for instance we use exclusively recyclable and washable cutlery.
We are committed to preserve the "wild", adventurous and challenging character of the races – so important in trail running – but also to guarantee the maximum safety during the races. We welcome and follow the participants in a personalized way before the start, during the race and at the finish line.
In the past three years, our motto has not changed: to convey our enthusiasm and passion for the most beautiful sport in the world, in the most beautiful place in the world: our home. And this without ever compromising.
